Raising the Standard Episode 49
Raising the Standard is back and just shy of 50 episodes this week with BOSS Owner, Jeff Street and WSJM News/Talk/Sports very own Spencer Rivers! We kick off the episode with Spencer relaying his great experience the other day with our newest HVAC Service Technician, Tim. We just want to give a shout-out to Tim because Spencer said he was super educational, friendly, and easily resolved his furnace issue. Keep up the good work, Tim!
So let’s dive into it. On episode 49 of our podcast, we talk about the advantages of ductless heating systems. Find the recap below!
How Does a Ductless Mini-Split Heating System Work?
If you don’t have ducts in your home, a ductless mini-split heating system definitely provides an energy-savings advantage over electric baseboard heat. Electric baseboard heat is probably one of the most inefficient ways to heat your house. Ductless mini-splits are a common upgrade from baseboard heat because it provides you heat and air conditioning without having to install ducts.
Essentially, with ductless mini-splits, you have multiple electric-powered heat pumps mounted in different rooms of your home connected to an outdoor unit. Each heat pump can be set to a different temperature, allowing you to control each area in your home individually.
Will a Ductless Mini-Split System Heat and Cool Your Home in ALL Weather?
As Mitsubishi Diamond Dealers, we’ve been seeing ductless systems gaining popularity for several reasons:
1) They are one of the most energy-efficient HVAC systems on the market, giving homeowners the ability to control the temperature from room to room, which eliminates energy waste.
2) Mitsubishi now has hyper-heating technology, which allows you to heat your home even in extremely cold temperatures, which are known to happen during Southwest Michigan winters.
There’s no need to have a supplemental heating system, a Mitsubishi system with hyper heat will both heat and cool your home entirely!
Jeff’s Experience with Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat
Jeff has had a Mitsubishi mini-split system in his home for five years now, and he’s never been concerned with not having heat. He has five to six heat pumps mounted on the walls inside different rooms in his home that connect to one outdoor unit. Your electrical system in your home is a great analogy for how this works. When you turn on a light switch, you’re typically not turning on every single light in your home. Rather, a light switch just controls one room.
With standard furnaces and air conditioning systems, it’s like having one light switch that controls every room in your home. Your only option is one temperature setting throughout your entire home. A Mitsubishi ductless system allows you to turn each head on or off independently and set the temperatures independently. So if you want your living room set to 72 degrees all winter and your bedroom at 68 degrees all winter, you can do that. It’s incredibly energy-efficient and amazing how much technology has progressed in the HVAC world.
