Raising the Standard Episode 40: HVAC Efficiency Winter Tips!

Raising the Standard Podcast

BOSS owner Jerry Street joins WSJM’s Spencer Rivers solo in the studio to discuss HVAC efficiency winter tips. Topics covered include our $59 scare-free guarantee furnace check-up, air filters, healthy home air, and the role windows play in your HVAC system’s energy efficiency.  So let’s get into some HVAC efficiency winter tips!

$59 Scare-Free Guarantee Furnace Check-Up

To start off the podcast, Jerry talks about a special going on now until October 31st: BOSS’s $59 Scare-Free Guarantee Furnace Check-Up.  In the spirit of Halloween, we don’t want homeowners to experience any unexpected scares this winter due to an unpleasant furnace breakdown.  So what does this entail? BOSS Services will send a professional HVAC technician to your home to inspect your furnace for only $59 to make sure it’s running efficiently and safely.  If there are any repairs needed and you have those recommended repairs performed, we guarantee you won’t have a furnace breakdown this winter or we will give you your money back!

Remember to Change Your Air Filter Before Winter!

Besides an annual furnace check-up, it’s also a good idea to change your air filter every 30 to 60 days. High efficiency filters require a replacement every 3 months on average. Changing your filter regularly will ensure your furnace runs more efficiently and makes for better indoor air quality. Another thing to consider is cleaning your ducts. You should clean your ducts every 7 years on average. However, you should do this more often if you have a lot of people and pets living in your home.

We currently have a special if you buy a new HVAC system, we will provide you with a FREE duct cleaning, which you can learn more about here: https://thebossservices.com/free-for-all-this-fall/

What else you can do to breathe healthier home air

We sell a Reme Halo whole-home air purifier that cleans the air by ionizing pollutants, like viruses, debris, and other particles. This causes these particles to clump together, making it easier for your filter to remove them from the air you’re breathing. The Reme Halo has actually been proven to be 99.9% effective at killing all viruses (yes, even THAT virus).

So it’s definitely a useful product to have in your home, especially during cold and flu season. Hospitals actually use this technology to clean their air so you know it works! Overall, the Reme Halo can be easily installed onto your existing furnace. It makes a huge difference in the indoor air quality in your home.

Windows: How can a window replacement help with HVAC efficiency?

Being a heating and cooling company, it was natural for us to add windows as our newest home service.  While we are doing furnace inspections, we often see windows that are hurting energy efficiency due to air leaks or the general construction of the windows. Now that we provide window replacement, we can help homeowners maintain their efficiency better.

When should you replace your windows if you have an older home?

If someone has an older home, when should you consider replacing your windows? This depends on many factors: the quality of the windows when they were put in, the construction of the window, how well they were maintained, storm damage, etc.

Jerry recently replaced all of his wood-constructed windows in his home that was built in 1955. He has already seen a decrease in his energy consumption by 50%.  That is a substantial savings!

Custom Michigan-Made Windows

Jerry is very proud that the windows BOSS sells are manufactured right in Grand Rapids, Michigan, made custom for Southwest Michigan homeowners. So the windows are made for a perfect-fit for your window openings. This maintains heating and cooling efficiency in your home, plus you’re keeping your hard earned dollars right here in Michigan. It’s really a win-win for homeowners and a proud moment for our company.
